May 25, 1857 Hawaii Newspaper, The FRIEND

May 25, 1857 Hawaii Newspaper, The FRIEND, Honolulu, Published Monthly by Rev. Samuel Damon, Quarto 9 1/2 x 12 3/4 in. 3 columns. EIGHT PAGES.  A great source for info on the government, industry, culture and life on Hawaii many years ago....

This was originally bound with the other issues simply sewed together with some string.  The back and front page are seperated from each other since this was once a big folded one piece paper and to bind it the paper had to be cut. The paper is all readable and being rag paper not that fragile at all. Very good condition, small chips on some edges and corners.
